Resumen
La palma aceitera (Elaeis guineensis) es un cultivo de gran importancia económica en Ecuador; sin embargo, enfrenta serias limitaciones fitosanitarias, entre ellas el ataque del picudo negro (Rhynchophorus palmarum), plaga que ocasiona daños directos al meristemo y actúa como vector del anillo rojo. El estudio evaluó la eficacia de dos modelos de trampas (tradicional y de galón) y cuatro tipos de cebos durante la época lluviosa en tres haciendas de las provincias de Los Ríos y Guayas. Se aplicó un diseño de bloques completos al azar con arreglo factorial 2×4. Los resultados demostraron que la trampa de galón combinada con melaza, piña y guarapo presentó la mayor eficacia de captura y mejor relación costo-beneficio. En contraste, los cebos con melaza y agua mostraron menor efectividad. Se concluye que esta alternativa constituye una estrategia viable, económica y sostenible para el manejo integrado de la plaga en condiciones de alta precipitación
