Resumen

La pandemia de COVID-19 ha provocado más de 62,5 millones de casos confirmados y más de 1,5 millones de muertes en todo el mundo. Ha generado una inminente crisis económica y recesión. El distanciamiento social, el autoaislamiento y las restricciones de viaje han reducido la fuerza laboral en todos los sectores de la economía y han provocado la pérdida de muchos puestos de trabajo. La crisis de COVID-19 es un momento decisivo para alinear el esfuerzo de mantener los medios de vida dependientes del turismo y garantizar un futuro más resiliente, inclusivo, neutral en carbono y eficiente en el uso de recursos. La pandemia ha obligado al sector turístico a fomentar la sostenibilidad y el crecimiento verde para cambiar hacia un sector turístico resistente, competitivo, eficiente en el uso de recursos y neutral en carbono. Las inversiones verdes para la recuperación podrían apuntar a áreas protegidas, energías renovables, edificios inteligentes y economía circular, entre otras oportunidades.
