Abstract

Assessing the conservation status of biodiversity has become a challenge, which involves making effective decisions in a short period of time. Biodiversity managers focus on evaluating the components of natural systems using ecological indicators. The diversity of natural areas is one of the factors that make Ecuador a diverse country with one of the greatest variations of species in the world. The objective of this research is to analyze species concepts as ecological indicators, and to evaluate the abundance of biodiversity in the Ecuadorian Amazon region, through a bibliographic review to carry out an analysis of bird and ant species as a tool for monitoring habitat quality, in order to emphasize priority actions for the conservation of Ecuadorian biodiversity. The relevance of the biodiversity of the Amazon requires that the management policy implements monitoring systems to measure the magnitude of impacts on the habitats.
