Abstract

While a high-energy, low-fiber diet can increase a person's risk of developing cancer, some individual foods have also been identified as potentially cancer-causing (carcinogenic). The foods we eat can affect our risk of developing certain types of cancer. This study evaluated foods and their relationship to the development of oral cancer. Diets high in energy and fat can lead to obesity and are generally believed to increase the risk of some types of cancer. There is possible evidence that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in meat and animal products has a favorable role against oral cancer. This is consistent with information from some studies that analyzed the overall impact of diet on this disease.
