Abstract

Tourism in Ecuador is one of the main factors of economic income. Many communities use the offer of cultural and recreational services as an engine for development. However, its management and handling has not been adequate due to different factors such as the lack of information for the community members who carry out these projects and the support of government entities. The objective of this study is to propose a community-based conservation tourism proposal to improve the economy of the Rio Indillama community in Yasuní National Park. The methodology was based on a compilation and bibliographic analysis of research articles, ordinances and field interviews. The main results of the proposal are classified into 4 stages for tourism use: egg collection, planting, hatching and release of the hatchlings. In this way, tourists will appreciate and value the importance of this species and learn about the process of conservation of the Charapa species. Community-based tourism plays an important role in the socio-cultural and socioeconomic transformation of this community, through a series of stages that link the tourist, generating learning experiences that facilitate the capture of the species' conservation message
